- Community Language Schools SA (CLSSA) is responsible for all aspects of the courses and workshops.
- Bookings will be acknowledged on the screen at the end of the booking process. A reminder SMS will also be sent at least 48 hours prior to the event.
- Course and workshop venues will be as stated on the registration screen or be advertised as being online.
- If there is a cost for a course or workshop it will be as stipulated on the registration screen and will be invoiced to the applicant’s community language school.
Cancellations
- While all efforts are made to ensure courses and workshops go ahead as scheduled, CLSSA reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses and workshops without penalty to applicants or applicant’s schools.
- If applications fall below the minimum enrolment, applicant schools and participants will be notified and may be redirected to a subsequent course.
- At no time shall CLSSA be responsible for any damages, costs, losses or expenses suffered or incurred by participants in connection with any courses or workshops which are either rescheduled or cancelled.
Withdrawal and Non-Attendance
- If withdrawal of the applicant is more than 3 days before the training, a refund to the school will be arranged if required.
- If withdrawal of the applicant is less than 3 days before the training or the applicant does not attend the training, the fees paid for attendance forfeited or remain due and payable.
- Where CLSSA provides courses and workshops free of charge, a course provision cost may be levied to the applicant's community language school if the applicant withdraws within 3 working days prior to that course or workshop being held or fails to attend.
- If the event is a Safe Environments Training Course the levy will be $110.00 (GST inc). In all circumstances CLSSA in its absolute discretion may consider extenuating circumstances and may request evidence or proof to substantiate the request for waiving the course provision cost.
- Places approved on courses and workshops are not transferrable to other applicants.
Training Venue Access
- For courses and workshops offered at the School of Languages (255 Torrens Road, West Croydon, SA 5008), please park on Brown Street. Please be aware of restrictions that apply to street parking.
- For courses and workshops offered at the Education Development Centre (4 Milner Street, Hindmarsh, SA 5007), off street parking is available at 58 Orsmond Street, Hindmarsh, SA 5007. On street parking is also available in the vicinity of that venue. Please be aware of restrictions that apply to street parking.
- For courses and workshops offered at Safe Place Training (147 Goodwood Road, Goodwood), parking is only available on streets and roads in the vicinity. Please be aware of restrictions that apply to street parking.
- For courses and workshops offered at Mawson Lakes Hotel (10 Main Street, Mawson Lakes, SA 5095), parking is available on premises and on side streets. Please be aware of restrictions that apply to street parking.
- For course and workshops offered at The Mawson Centre by Uni SA (2-8 Main Street, Mawson Lakes, SA 5095) parking is available on premises and on side streets. Please be aware of restrictions that apply to street parking.
- For courses and workshops offered at Enable College (Level 2/47 South Terrace, Adelaide, SA 5000), parking is available on both side of South Terrace. Please be aware of restrictions that apply to street parking.
Applicant requirements
- Applicants must be proficient in English speaking and writing skills to enrol in all courses and workshops.
- Applicants must have recorded on their online profile (CLSSA website) a current DHS Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a current attendance certificate for Child Safe Training. If these conditions are not met, registrations may be cancelled and applicants advised.
- Applicants must arrive on time for all sessions. Late arrival may mean that the applicant is excluded for that session. For Safe Environments Training courses, exclusion because of late arrival may invoke a course provision cost to be invoiced to the applicant's school.
- Children must not be brought to sessions or be present during online sessions.
Training Completion
- Applicants must attend the full duration of courses or workshops in order to be marked as attending.
- Details will be provided prior to a course or workshop if there is pre-event reading or pre-event course work.
- Where pre-event reading or pre-event course work have not been completed prior to the event, the applicant may be precluded from the event.
- To graduate from some courses or workshops, applicants may be required to complete and submit an assignment which may also need to meet minimum requirements and standards stipulated by CLSSA.
- If applicants have personal responsibilities (e.g. prayer or medical responsibilities), these should be negotiated with the course presenter to the presenter’s satisfaction. Failure to do so may mean that the applicant will need to repeat content at a subsequent session of the course. On occasions, this may not be possible - i.e. Safe Environments Training or First Aid Courses.
- Once the requirements for a course or workshop have been met, CLSSA will provide written confirmation of that either as a certificate or through the CLSSA website.
Multi-Session Courses and Workshops
- For multi-session courses and workshops, applicants will be required to re-attend missed sessions in order to satisfy the requirements of the course or workshop.
- For some multi-session courses and workshops, applicants that fail to attend the first week may be precluded from attending subsequent weeks and required to re-apply for a future course. A course provision cost may also be levied to the applicant's school (as above).
Foundation Course Requirements
- To graduate from the Foundation Course for Teachers, applicants are required to fulfil all aspects documented in the Course Information Sheet click here.
Online Training
- For all sessions, applicants will be required to have the following IT connectivity:
- desktop or laptop computer with web camera and microphone
- internet connectivity
- appropriate software such as Adobe and Microsoft suite
- printer
- background noise must be minimised.
CLSSA reserves the right at any time to review and revise these terms and conditions and introduce other terms and conditions that it deems reasonable.
The term applicant and participant will be taken to mean the same individual.
Privacy Policy
For each visitor to our website, our Web server automatically recognises only the consumer's domain name, but not the e-mail address (where possible). We collect aggregate information on what pages consumers access or visit, information volunteered by the consumer, such as enquiry information and/or site registrations. Online Training Bookings
CLSSA respects the privacy of information collected. The information collected is to assist CLSSA to process the application for training. By completing the application form, the signatories have consented to this information being collected. The intended recipients of this information are CLSSA and any external parties responsible for the facilitation of the training. It may also be collected for interaction with the Government of South Australia who provide funding to CLSs.
